Description
Crimson Clover excels at lower temperatures in contrast with many of its other legume counterparts. It works well in mixes with other species as a fall cover. It is a rather early maturing legume, which allows for it to fixate N (peak N production at flower) much sooner than other legumes, such as hairy vetch.
Can provide a lot of biomass if allowed to grow vertical in the spring. Great species for attracting beneficial pollinators.
Plant 8 weeks before killing frost in the fall. Crimson Clover may winterkill without a sufficient amount of snow cover in Zone 7 or north.
